I have to work in Luton this week, how much does it cost to get there?

I have to work in Luton travelling from Lewisham in London and need some help. I wonder if anyone knows if the oyster card will work and if so what zone etc. If not, is there a travel p that can be bought and where from? �22 a day seems excessive for a return! Can anyone help? Thanks
